Change Zoning Regulations

  • Dallas should follow the lead of other cities like Minneapolis and the state of California in allowing for more housing to be built in existing neighborhoods by abolishing single-family only zoning.

  • Currently, 64.6% of residential land in Dallas is zoned exclusively for single-family homes (Source), meaning only single family homes can be built there. This arbitrarily restricts the supply of housing and limits the freedom of individuals.

  • Reduce minimum lot sizes and simplify replatting to allow for more twin homes, townhomes, etc that allow for ownership of new units

  • Allow for even greater density close to DART stations to allow people more access to transit.

  • Rezone commercial and industrial areas to residential or mixed-use zoning.
