Change Zoning Regulations
Dallas should follow the lead of other cities like Minneapolis and the state of California in allowing for more housing to be built in existing neighborhoods by abolishing single-family only zoning.
Currently, 64.6% of residential land in Dallas is zoned exclusively for single-family homes (Source), meaning only single family homes can be built there. This arbitrarily restricts the supply of housing and limits the freedom of individuals.
Reduce minimum lot sizes and simplify replatting to allow for more twin homes, townhomes, etc that allow for ownership of new units
Allow for even greater density close to DART stations to allow people more access to transit.
Rezone commercial and industrial areas to residential or mixed-use zoning.
