Homelessness Ballot Initiative

Dallas County has the opportunity to make a transformational investment in homelessness, and you can help make it a reality. Right now, the Dallas County Commissioners Court is thinking about sending a ballot proposition to Dallas County residents to vote in November on making an estimated $100 million annual investment in Housing and Services to fight Homelessness countywide.

The proposal will fund proven strategies that 1. Guarantee outreach teams can provide real-time connections to shelter and treatment 2. Help households escape homelessness and move towards self-sufficiency and 3. Break the cycle between the streets, hospitals, and jail. By making these investments, we can ensure that every individual and family facing homelessness can receive real and meaningful support, something that today an estimated 40% cannot access because of a lack of funding.

With an estimated cost of $5 per month (before factoring in the downstream savings from less intensive use of existing services) for the average Dallas County Household, this investment in our most vulnerable neighbors will change lives and our community.
